“Ray” by makin

New Zealand ensemble makin to release the first single “Ray” ahead of their upcoming studio album. Singer Vicki-leigh Fryer’s enchanting vocal purity, accompanied by intricate acoustic guitar and fiddle arrangement, is supported with progressing swelling of vocal, and percussive elements – blending folk, country, celtic genres with an alternative modern sound.

BluesRockReview’s 8/10 for Oscar LaDell’s “Love & Revolution”

Immediately after lock-down, Dunedin based artist Oscar LaDell was quick to book session time to record his fresh creations. An eclectic sound, inspired by the evolution of roots, blues, funk and soul, from acoustic records of the 30’s to modern alternative productions, has already received international attention with Blues Rock Review awarding the album 8/10 stating “LaDell shows an appetite for artistic risk, and it pays off on Love & Revolution.”

Welcome Meadow Sounds’ newest addition

Meet Grace, named after Jeff Buckleys masterpiece. She has recently become a permanent crew member at Meadow Sounds, focussing her energy on entertaining artists and keeping their laps warm in the control room. With music at heart, Grace is often heard playing unique scales on the studio piano – she is quite the maestro.

We got a new engine for our studio! Uninstalled from a theatre in the North Island and shipped to Southland, the US made Crest X 48 channel split console is now home in Meadow’s control room.

“Chasing My Grace” by John Mason

UK acoustic singer songwriter John Mason, recorded his latest Album at Auckland’s Roundhead Studios early 2019. Produced alongside engineer Paddy Hill and musician Matt Wilson. John’s first solo album features songs and stories of his life and travels, with his signature intricate acoustic style. Keeping up his creative momentum, John is already working on his follow up E.P at Sony Studios in Sydney with acclaimed producer Adrian Breakspear (Gang of Youths, Pharrell Williams)

Miki Brown’s first EP out now

Queenstown born singer-songwriter Miki Brown has released her first solo EP, featuring beautifully crafted songs of nature, life and love. Recorded with the assistance of her brother Hiro Brown and inspired with elements of rnb, folk and jazz, Miki’s sound and powerful voice is a pleasure for listeners.
